Our New Addition

Ta-Da! Our just-the-right-size espresso machine! This was an item on our wedding registry, and it has continually been in and out of stock, not available online or in stores, etc. About two weeks ago, not only did I catch it in stock online, but I also caught it on sale! Woot! So far so good - we've made cappuccinos as you can see, but our frothing skills still need some work. The next adventure is finding an espresso blend that we love. Let the research begin!

And All The Stuff In Between

Well, here we are, five months later, and I'm just getting around to making a new post. Again, never said that this was my forte, but perhaps something I can strive to be better at in 2013. So what's been going on since October? Here's the run down:

Late October: Took an awesome trip to Tahoe! It was the first snow of the season and we had a blast hiking around and checking out several state and national parks. We also had a great experience with Jax - getting to meet up with Jami who lives in South Lake Tahoe and owns Jaxon's dog-father and grandfather. What's better than one Bucher? Three full Buchers. After our meet-up with Jami, I started to get more involved with NEMDA (National Entlebucher Mountain Dog Association), and I'm happy to report that as of January, I'm now the Co-Membership Chair!

November: Our trip to Catalina for the races was great, and David and I were both satisfied with our results. Catalina does have its touristy parts, but it also seems to have a decent amount of locals who bring their own vibe. Would I drive six hours and take a ferry to go here again? Probably not. From one visit I have the 'came, saw, conquered' satisfaction, but I can see how Catalina is an attractive weekend getaway location for folks in the LA area. Other big event for November was Thanksgiving. It was David and I's first one at our house! Renee came to visit and we were happy to have her and sweet Miley around for the weekend. Nothing warms your bones quite like having family around.

December: In one word, whirlwind. We were only in Monterey for the first weekend of the month, the rest of the month was this order: San Diego, Monterey, Vegas, Monterey, San Francisco, Monterey, San Luis Obispo/Pismo Beach, Monterey. Yikes! And that got us through the New Year! Some highlights from the month: seeing Cirque du Soleil's Zumanity and staying at the Cosmopolitan in Vegas, attending the Navy Bowl Game, and seeing our dear friend Steve for NYE.

January: We went to China Lake to visit our friends Ken and Cherish for David's birthday, and what a cool weekend it was. We finally did some off-roading in the Jeep - in Death Valley, no less, and proving that, as David says, the Jeep is "more than a grocery getter." The picture at the top is from this trip. Jax had a great time playing with their dog Buddy! And we're excited that Buddy now has a new brother named Jake! We're so looking forward to hanging out with the Chambers family again.

February: Seems like a blur! With a much-needed visit to Sunny San Diego in the middle, the month just flew by. Jax also started his next level of Agility, which is Agility 3. I think I have the crazy idea that we're going to compete this summer.... More to come on this later, but David and I just finished assembling some of our own agility equipment in the backyard.
